Here is how a beach club birthday actually works, and the honest cases where a villa still wins.
What a Beach Club Birthday Looks Like
A kids birthday at a beach club is a daytime event — typically an 11:00–15:00 window, before the venue shifts to its adult evening crowd. You reserve a section: a cluster of daybeds, a lawn corner or a semi-private deck, usually with pool access and the ocean as your backdrop. The club provides food and drinks from its own menu, the parents get proper coffee and a view, and the kids get a pool that feels like a resort holiday. Family-friendly clubs cluster around Canggu, Berawa and the clifftops of Uluwatu.
How Booking Works: Minimum Spend, Not Rent
Most clubs do not charge a rental fee for a section — they set a minimum spend on food and drink instead, which varies widely by club, day and season, and climbs steeply for weekend dates in high season. Before you commit, ask four things: whether an outside birthday cake is allowed (many clubs charge a "cakeage" fee), when decorators can access the space, what the kids' pool rules are, and whether hosted games and music are permitted in your section. What We Can Bring Into a Club
Clubs allow less than villas, but more than most parents expect: freestanding balloon garlands and backdrops that need no taping or rigging, a party host or entertainer to run games inside your section, a face painting and crafts corner, and a cake delivered chilled and staged for the candle moment. What clubs almost never allow: confetti cannons, foam machines, piñatas over the lawn and outside catering.
The Safety Caveat
A club pool is a shared pool. The venue's lifeguards watch the whole property, not your eight six-year-olds specifically — so we treat club pools the way we treat the open sea: one dedicated adult watching the water for every swim session, the same standard our villa pool parties apply with an included lifeguard. Ask us to assign a water-watcher for club events; never leave it to "the parents will keep an eye".

Under-5s do better at a villa party, full stop — naps, quiet corners and no strangers' daybeds to crash into.
